Youth Sailing Mentor Scheme

The future of the Sailing relies heavily on people becoming involved in the club and in all its activities (sailing or social).

The development of the mentor scheme several years ago has led to many of our sailors progressing and competing at regional welsh yachting association level.

To continue this success we want to share the benefits of being a mentor and provide opportunity for all to become involved in ensuring the continued success of Pen Sailing, We are affiliated with the WYA & RYA and follow their code of practice when working with children. The policy of the RYA is ‘to safeguard children and young people taking part in boating from physical, sexual or emotional harm’ and to provide a ‘Safe and Fun environment’ for them to learn to sail. To ensure we meet the code of practice as set out by the RYA we will undertake CRB (criminal records bureau) checks of all volunteers under the guidance of the RYA child protection Co-ordinator. This service is completed free of charge and all information gathered follows confidentiality rules.

What do you get out of it?

All you need is enthusiasm and your Tuesday nights will never be the same again. To become a Mentor please see a committee member.
