2010 was a good year for the larger yachts. Once again a very creditable performance in the 3 Peaks race as GFT Adventure took the seventh place from 32 starters. Paul Singleton skippered with Peter Lewis & Glenn Williams crewing. In the Menai Straights one yacht hit a rock & the yacht behind collided with it but they both managed to complete the race.
Malcolm Wright in his Hallberg 42 had many voyages taking in the isle of Man Ireland & Scotland.
Kevin Jones has had his Benetau down in Portugal and is planning to sail it back to Wales this spring ready for the Three Peaks race 2011.
Paul Singleton Sailed From Gran Canaria to St Lucia in an Oyster 45 called Naughtynes & the boat won the Oyster Cup in the class also took 2nd place on handidap. November 2010 World Cruising Club Racing.
Steve Brookes in his Beneteau due to work commitments did not get as much cruising as hoped, perhaps now they are in the new premises he will be able to get more in 2011.
In the early years of the club it was called PYC(yacht club) but due to repeated requests from yachts for mooring facilities it was decided to change it to Sailing Club. The club has great support from the yacht owning members at functions & visits etc. Keep it up lads we like to see you representing the club you never know we might get one of you doing a round the world trip. Brian Butterworth did the Fastnet Rock in 1983 in a Contessa 32 (well done the Club President).
Happy Sailing 2011…
