Club Sailing

Hi all members

All in all 2011 was not a bad year considering some gale force week –ends and flat calms & missing sailors, some boats seemed to be a bit stuck to the dinghy parc at times.
A nice turn of events was that two members who have youngsters on the Tuesday night training nights both purchased a club Laser & did not waste time in joining the races with them. There are still a couple of club Lasers for sale if anyone is interested

The addition of a new trophy presented by Junior Thomas Warburton named as the R.N.L.I. trophy which was part of Tom’s Duke of Edinburgh Award. It is to be sailed for yearly. All race fees to go to the RNLI. The clubs open events went off very well with some exciting sailing around puffin Island & the Conwy area. At the moment the club spillway is undergoing major repairs & extending so it should make launching much easier. It is proposed to make Saturday June 9th an open race day as part of the club’s 50th anniversary celebrations. As part of having a continuity of race officers it is proposed to have Jash Kopec put on a RYA race officers course ,Jash helped out with Brian(club president) when I was off ill for 5 weeks & has helped till the end of the season. Another big thank you must go to

Club Commodore Gerry Frobisher manning the club Safety Rib.(I think he likes the piece & quite on the water!! When we have had two safety Ribs out in the open races Craig Petch was busy also fishing for Mackerel which was cooked by Sue, Katie, Sharon & enjoyed by the Sailors & duty staff after the races.

So get cracking all the sailors look out for a Bright Pink Dart this year !!

Bernard Carter, V.P. & Race Officer.
